Pocketables is an online tech publication that provides news, commentary, and comprehensive reviews on various mobile computing devices (7-inch or smaller screens), portable consumer electronics, and related accessories. It takes a consumer-centric approach to technology by offering tech news and reviews colored with real-life use of devices over weeks and months, not first-impression opinions formed within days or hours.
Pocketables is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is read by visitors from more than 215 countries and territories around the world. It was founded by Jenn K. Lee in 2006 and sold to CrowdGather in 2011. For more information about this site, please contact Jenn directly.
Jenn K. Lee
Founder & Editor-in-Chief
In addition to her role at Pocketables, Jenn is the Director of Content Management at CrowdGather. She has won several short story awards and has previously written for Popgadget, Anything But iPod, and a celebrity fanzine. When not behind a computer screen, she is usually trying to convince her husband and daughter that new gadgets are more important than food and shelter.
Jenn is also the founder of StreakSmart (dedicated to the Dell Streak) and Good and EVO (dedicated to the HTC EVO 4G).
On a fateful day in 1995, Calob bought his first cell phone. It didn't take long for him to realize that he was forever changed and maybe even a little obsessed. Ever since then, he has been incredibly attracted to all things mobile and has used everything from Windows Mobile 2003 to iOS 4.2.1. He has no plans of ever slowing down.
HG
Contributing Editor
HG has enjoyed electronics for as long as he can remember. Ever since he taught himself to disassemble and reassemble computers and other electronic devices as a child, he has been keeping an eye out for the latest gadget to add to his collection. He is especially fond of tablet PCs, his first one being the Compaq TC1000.
Chris King
Contributing Editor
On the rare occasions when not online, Chris spends his time trying not to sneak away to his growing collection of mini computers so that he can run his retail optical store and lab. Because of his long-time fascination with anything with a touchscreen or keyboard, he is never far from his beloved iPhone 3GS or Fujitsu U820.
Sean N. Lee
Event Photographer
Before joining Pocketables, Sean could rarely be seen without a camera hanging from his neck or a tripod slung over his shoulder. Now he has a small photography studio set up at home, but his friends and family can no longer pick him out of a lineup. They can, however, identify his camera (particularly its lens) in a heartbeat.
Andreas Ødegård
Contributing Editor
Andreas has loved taking things apart since he was little and is a firm believer in the DIY way of life. Anything that classifies as electronic is of some interest to him, which is why he makes cameos on several of CrowdGather's websites. He believes there's an app for most things in life, and for everything else, there's duct tape.
Aaron Orquia
Contributing Editor
Aaron has always been addicted to technology. He learned how to hack on his Pentium II desktop when he was 10 years old. This need to tinker has led him to open-source projects like Linux and Android, especially in the mobile space, but he has a fundamental attraction to anything with a chip in it . . . even if that thing is an Apple product.
