New MIDs and XP phone expected at Computex 2009
Computex 2009 kicks off in Taipei next week and while there are still bound to be some surprises, a decent amount of info about what attendees can expect to see there has already been revealed. Here's a quick rundown of some of the highlights:
- NVIDIA Tegra-powered MID products will surely make an appearance, especially considering the 600 series chip's inclusion in the show's product directory.
- Viliv is promising an invitation-only showing of its new 4.8-inch MID equipped with a hardware keyboard. A thinner slider-style S5 Premium, perhaps?
- An AMD-powered slider phone (shown above - bigger image below) that runs full Windows XP on its 4.8-inch WVGA touchscreen will be shown by Chinese company ITG. The unimaginatively named xpPhone features WiFi, GPS, 64GB SSD, and a QWERTY keyboard that includes mouse buttons, a touchpad, and a number pad.
- The Atom-based LonMID M100 MID phone doesn't look like it will actually be at Computex, but I'm lumping it in here because there's talk about a June 6th launch date that fits in nicely with the June 2nd to 6th show in Taiwan.
