Disappearing volume indicator in Spb Mobile Shell
Did the volume indicator that's supposed to be part of the Now Screen in Spb Mobile Shell (version 1.5) ever run away from you?
Every night before I go to sleep, I tap the icon that usually appears at the top right corner of the professional layout to mute my AT&T Tilt. In the morning, I tap the icon again to turn on the volume. I've been doing this every day since I got the phone in December with no problems.
But today was different. I woke up, pressed the power button to awaken the Tilt (which automatically displays the Now Screen), and discovered that the volume indicator was gone.
Where the heck did it go?
No, really, I'm asking. Where is it? I was able to close the Now Screen and adjust the volume using a different method just fine, but the icon was gone and the Spb Menu soft key became non-functional. Pressing it did nothing (it usually brings up the menu).
The first rule in troubleshooting for me is always to reset/restart a device, so I did that before running to Google.
And it worked.
I don't know what happened to make it disappear, but a soft reset got it back. It's obviously not a groundbreaking solution to a major issue or anything, but it's still worth sharing in case anyone else suspects their volume indicator of being a flight risk.
Maybe I should upgrade to version 2.0 . . .

Since how many days did u commit a soft reset on it? =D

I've been using 2.0 since it came out and have never had that happen.
However, I do find that SPB MS2 does close sometimes when gesturing. I'll swipe my finger left or right and sometimes (maybe 1 out of 20 times) the Shell will go away leaving me at the default WinMo today screen.
Anyone ever see that?

@ kamal: I haven't had to reset too often. Maybe 4 or 5 times since December? Not too bad!
@ John-Video: Strange. Does it come back on its own or do you need to reset it?

@Jenn: gotcha! it is windows mobile dear! I can run my device at most for 2days without reset :-0

Once every 2 days?! I seriously have only had to reset mine about 4 or 5 times since December. I don't do a whole lot on it, though, so I'm sure that's part of the reason. Is there any particular app that causes the trouble?

It comes back if I gesture from the Start bar (The cool transparent screen selector) or if I turn the screen off and on.
I have it set to display MS on wake up.

I think it depends on how much you put on your device. I used to run mobile shell, diary, phone suite, pocket plus, and backup for STARTERS. i'd hard reset or flash a new rom.. and download those immediately. I just flashed again yesterday and am running everything pretty much stock right now. i plan on adding mobile shell and diary again.. but will probably slow down on everything else. when i ran all of that together... resets were frequent.. but i can't say if it was definitely the software or any of my other "tweaks".
