Inventec UMPC 7-A and 5-D win design awards

Although they look nothing like the MID shown at CES, Inventec has apparently been working on two more potentially Menlow-based units. The company has been doing a fine job too, as both the UMPC 7-A (above) and the UMPC 5-D (below) recently won iF Product Design Awards. Part of the competition rules indicate that entrants must be heading for the assembly line this year, so it shouldn't be too long before the devices make it to market (hopefully bearing new names).

The UMPC 7-A features a curved design that is meant to provide better viewing angles and a more natural keyboard position.

The modular UMPC 5-D, on the other hand, can be docked into various units for particular purposes (e.g., multimedia, computing).
