Asus Eee PC 4G-X runs Windows XP for Japan

Asus_eee_4gxTwo months ahead of when the XP-based Eee PC becomes available in the U.S., Asus has announced that it will begin selling the newly named 4G-X in Japan tomorrow.

Priced at 50,000 yen (about $470), the black and white units run Windows XP Home on a possibly underclocked 900MHz Intel Celeron M processor and 512MB of RAM. Anyone who buys the 4GB ultraportable notebooks will also receive a 4GB SDHC memory card, an optical mouse, and free wi-fi access through various NTT hotspot locations. In addition to all of that, Asus even promises to replace any Eee PC 4G-X found to have dead or stuck pixels on its 7-inch WVGA display within 30 days of purchase.
