Direct recording on gadgets with iRecord

Irecord

With Christmas just around the corner and rumors swirling about upcoming PSPs equipped with 8GB flash drives and unknown-capacity hard drives, Streaming Networks couldn't have chosen a better time to unveil its new iRecord portable media recorder. The iRecord eliminates the need for a computer by recording from an analog audio/video source (TV, DVD player, VCR, TiVo, etc.) directly onto any USB 2.0 gadget, most notably the PSP and iPod, that supports MP4 (H.264/AAC) video and MP3 audio files. Simply plug in the iRecord, connect an A/V source and USB 2.0 device, and hit the "record" button to start recording in real time. It's that simple!

The iRecord compresses 3 hours of 320 x 240 video into a single gigabyte, which has me doubting its "stunning video quality" claim, and is available now for $199.99.
